A priest of Rikyu Hachiman Shrine in Oyamazaki Village, Yamashiro Province (Otokuni District, Kyoto Prefecture), a branch shrine of Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine. He organized an oil troupe, and from the Kamakura period until the Onin War, he received a license from the shrine to be an oil and perilla merchant, monopolizing the manufacture and sale of oil in the Kinki, Shikoku, and Kyushu regions. 〘名〙 石清水八幡宮の末社である山城国大山崎村(京都府乙訓郡大山崎町)の離宮八幡社の神人。油座を組織し、鎌倉時代から応仁の乱の頃まで、神社から油・荏胡麻(えごま)商の特許を受け、近畿、四国、九州までの油の製造販売を独占した。
