Japanese: オオバタケシマラン - おおばたけしまらん

A perennial plant of the lily family (APG classification: Liliaceae). It is large, soft-textured, and branches 2-3 times. The leaves clasp the stem at the base, are powdery white on the underside, and have trichomes on the edges. The flowers are greenish-white and broad, bell-shaped. The fruits are red and ripen at the end of August. It grows in subalpine coniferous forests from central and northern Honshu to Hokkaido, and is distributed as far as the Amur and Kamchatka.

ユリ科（APG分類：ユリ科）の多年草。大形で質は柔らかく、2～3回分枝する。葉は基部で茎を抱き、裏面が粉白色で、縁(へり)には毛状突起がある。花は緑白色で広い釣鐘型。果実は赤色で、8月末に熟す。本州の中北部から北海道にかけての亜高山針葉樹林に生え、アムール、カムチャツカまで分布する。
