…It has been suggested that it may correspond to one or two cities mentioned in the Chronicle of Thutmose III, but this has not been confirmed. Excavations were carried out by Kiyoshi Ohata and others in 1964-66 and 1974, and 22 levels were identified, ranging from the Middle Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. The oldest town is the largest in size, and is dated to the second half of the Middle Bronze Age II, and is fortified by a Hyksos-style wall with a moat and bastions. …
