Ostrich (Ostrich) - Ostrich (English spelling)
Birds of the order Struthioniformes, family Struthioniidae (illustration). This family consists of only one species, the ostrich. It is about 1.8 m long. It is the largest living bird species, with large males reaching a head height of 2.5 m and weighing up to 150 kg. Males have black bodies and white ornamental flight feathers and tail feathers. The head, neck, armpits, and thighs are featherless, exposing exposed pink skin. Females and young birds are smaller than males, and their body feathers, flight feathers, and tail feathers are all gray-brown. Their wings have degenerated, making them completely unable to fly, and they live entirely on the ground.
