Adachi Kagemori - Adachi Kagemori

A military commander in the early Kamakura period. His father was Morinaga and his mother was Tango no Naishi. Since Minamoto no Yoritomo raised an army, he served alongside his father and contributed to the founding of the shogunate. He also served the second shogun Yoriie and the third shogun Sanetomo, and was a key figure in the shogunate. Upon Sanetomo's death, he became a monk along with many of his retainers. During this time, he became Akita Jonosuke in 1218 (Kenpo 6), a position that became hereditary for the Adachi clan thereafter. After becoming a monk, he took the name Dairenbo Kakuchi (local), entered Mount Koya, and built Kongo Sammai-in temple for the soul of Sanetomo. Although he was based in Mount Koya, he participated in the shogunate government in response to requests from the shogunate, and wielded great influence as the maternal grandfather of Hojo Tsunetoki and Tokiyori during their reigns. In 1247 (Hōji 1), he conspired with Tokiyori to defeat the Miura clan. He had also been the shugojin of both Kozuke (Gunma Prefecture) and Mikawa (Aichi Prefecture) since his father's time, and in Kozuke, the local samurai were being made vassals of the shogunate.

鎌倉前期の武将。父は盛長(もりなが)、母は丹後内侍(たんごのないし)。源頼朝(よりとも)挙兵以来、父とともに仕え、幕府開創に尽くす。2代将軍頼家(よりいえ)、3代将軍実朝(さねとも)にも仕え、幕府の重鎮であった。実朝の死に際しては多くの御家人(ごけにん)とともに出家した。この間、1218年（建保6）に秋田城介(あきたじょうのすけ)となり、以後この地位は安達氏の世襲となった。出家後は大蓮房覚智（地）(だいれんぼうかくち)と号し、高野山(こうやさん)に入り、実朝菩提(ぼだい)のために金剛三昧院(こんごうさんまいいん)を建立した。高野山にありながらも幕府の要請にこたえて幕政に参画し、とくに北条経時(つねとき)、時頼(ときより)の執権時代にはその外祖父として権勢を振るった。1247年（宝治1）には時頼と謀って三浦氏を討った。また父の代より上野(こうずけ)（群馬県）、三河（愛知県）両国の守護人となっており、上野国では在地武士の被官化が進められていた。
