Adachigahara

This area is located on the Abukuma River in Nihonmatsu City, in the central north of Fukushima Prefecture. It is said that it was originally the name of the flat land on the west side of the river. There is a legend of Onibaba, known from the Noh song "Kurozuka" (called "Adachigahara" in the Kanze school), and a cave where the Onibaba is said to have stayed is located in the grounds of Kanzeji Temple. The nearby Kurozuka is said to be the grave of the Onibaba, and nearby is a monument by Taira no Kanemori that reads, "Is it true that I have heard that she has stayed in Kurozuka at Adachihara in Michinoku?" ("Shuishu").

福島県中北部、二本松市の阿武隈(あぶくま)川畔にある地。もとは川の西側の平地の呼称であったという。謡曲「黒塚(くろづか)」（観世流では「安達原(あだちがはら)」という）などで知られる鬼婆(おにばば)の伝説があり、鬼婆がこもったという岩屋が観世寺(かんぜじ)境内にある。近くの黒塚は鬼婆の墓とされ、そばに平兼盛(かねもり)の「みちのくの安達の原の黒塚におにこもれりと聞くはまことか」（『拾遺集』）の碑がある。
