Soil erosion - Dojoshinshoku

Japanese:
Soil erosion - Dojoshinshoku
Soil loss caused by rain, wind, or running water. There is natural (normal) erosion, which occurs slowly under natural conditions, and accelerated erosion, which occurs when vegetation is destroyed artificially. There is water erosion caused by rain and running water, and wind erosion caused by wind, and factors that accelerate erosion include rainfall intensity, wind speed, the level of vegetation development, topography, and soil properties. In general, volcanic ash soil and red soil are prone to erosion. Prevention measures include the creation of terraces, cultivation of cover plants such as pasture grass, construction of drainage channels, installation of windbreaks, soil improvement, and improvement of cropping systems.
