Dmitriy Borisovich Kabalevskiy

Soviet composer. After graduating from the Scriabin School of Music, he studied piano and composition at the Moscow Conservatory. After producing works influenced by his teacher Myaskovsky, he released "Battle Poem" (1930), which could be called a hymn to proletarian art, and achieved great success by composing one work after another along the lines of socialist realism. He was active as a critic from an early age, and held important positions in the administration of music in the Soviet Union. In addition to teaching at the Moscow Conservatory since 1932, he was also active in a wide range of fields, including international concert tours. His style of composition is bright, lyrical, and simple, and includes operas such as "Cola Bourgnon" (premiered in 1937) and "Taras's Family" (premiered in 1947), four symphonies, the orchestral suite "Pagliacci" (1940), concertos, incidental music, and oratorios.
