…In ancient Greece, the wind gods were used as symbols to represent the four directions, north, south, east, and west, and the character of each wind god was associated with the characteristics of the corresponding direction. In other words, Boreas, the god of the north wind, had a stern and violent nature, Zephyros, the god of the west wind, was a gentle young man who brought spring and life, Notos, the god of the south wind, was powerful, and Euros, the god of the east wind, was a god who brought fertility.
