Asa Chijimi

...Akashi Chijimi was made in Akashi, Harima Province, in the early Edo period, and later began to be made in Kyoto and Ojiya, where it was popular until the early Showa period. After cotton and linen chijimi are woven, they are desizing, wrinkled, and width-stretched, while silk chijimi is made by refining the white fabric, width-stretching, and dyeing. Linen chijimi has been used as summer clothing since the Keicho period (1596-1615), and was woven in various places in the mid-Edo period, with stripes, ikat, etc.
