Crab-eating dog - Crab-eating dog (English spelling) Common zorro
A primitive carnivorous canine mammal with a body shape roughly halfway between that of a raccoon dog and a fox. It lives in forests and grasslands on the forest edges from Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil to northern Argentina. It is 60-80 cm long, with a tail about 30 cm long. Its fur is short and gray-brown, and it has a prominent black line running down the midline from its neck and back to the tip of its tail. Its ears are black with rounded tips. The lower parts of its limbs and snout are dark. The underside of its body is light in color. Compared to a fox, its snout is shorter and its tail is thinner. It is nocturnal, going out alone or in pairs, and preying on mice, lizards, frogs, insects such as grasshoppers, and crabs, as well as fruit such as figs, strawberries, mangoes, and bananas.
