Rikuhei Umemoto

Japanese: 楳茂都陸平 - うめもとりくへい

1897-1985 A dancer from the Taisho to Showa periods.
Born on August 3, 1897. The eldest son of the second Umemoto Sensho. He became a professor at the Takarazuka Music and Drama School and attracted attention with his group dance "From Spring to Autumn." In 1928, he succeeded the third head of the Umemoto school. From 1921, he studied dance theory in Germany. While inheriting tradition, he also created new dance and presented unique works. He passed away on February 4, 1985. He was 87 years old. He was from Osaka. His real name was Washitani Rikuhei. His work includes "Invitation to Dance."

明治30年8月3日生まれ。2代楳茂都扇性の長男。宝塚音楽歌劇学校教授となり,群舞「春から秋へ」で注目される。昭和3年楳茂都流3代家元をつぐ。6年からドイツで舞踊理論などをまなぶ。伝統をうけつぐとともに新舞踊も創作,ユニークな作品を発表した。昭和60年2月4日死去。87歳。大阪出身。本名は鷲谷(わしたに)陸平。著作に「舞踊への招待」。
