Tremolite (tremolite)

Japanese: 透セン石(透閃石) - とうせんせき（英語表記）tremolite

Also called tremolasite or tremola. A calcium amphibole mineral with the chemical composition Ca ₂ Mg ₅ Si ₈ O ₂₂ (OH) _2. Contains a small amount of Fe. It has the same chemical composition as actinocene, but tremolasite has an Mg/(Mg+Fe ²⁺ ) ratio of 0.9 to 1.0. Monoclinic crystal system. Specific gravity 3.0, Mohs hardness 5 to 6. It occurs as white to gray-white columnar to asbestos-like aggregates. It appears in large quantities in dolomitic limestone that has undergone low-temperature metamorphism.

透角セン石，トレモラ(角)セン石ともいう。カルシウム角セン石の一つで，化学組成Ca₂Mg₅Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂で表される鉱物。Feを少量含んでいる。アクチノセン石と化学組成は同じであるが，Mg/(Mg＋Fe^2＋)が0.9～1.0のものを透セン石と呼ぶ。単斜晶系。比重3.0，モース硬度5～6。白色～灰白色の柱状～アスベスト状の集合体として産する。低温変成作用をうけたドロマイト質の石灰岩には多量に出現する。
