〘Noun〙① One of the benches set up in the Shogunate Council of Ministers during the Edo period. It was a waiting area for commoners, located on the south side of the Omote Gomon gate. ※Kinryo Ko - Zenshu, Volume 3, Volume 28, May 1795 (Kansei 7th year) "The temporary prisoners and the courts have taken measures to erect a bench. If it is set up as a large bench, it is _prohibited to enter this area."② A bench set up inside the Nakakakuguri (middle passage) between the inner and outer gardens of the tea ceremony.

〘名〙① 江戸時代、幕府評定所に設けられていた腰掛けの一つ。庶民の控え所で、表御門の南側にあった。※禁令考‐前集・第三・巻二八・（寛政七年）（1795）五月「仮牢白洲訴所等取建之覚〈略〉大腰懸に而も拵候得ば、此方内腰懸は入不_レ申候」② 茶席の内露地と外露地の間に設けられた中潜(なかくぐり)の内にある腰掛け。
