A Chinese painter from the mid-Ming Dynasty. Born in Wu County (Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). His pen name was Shunqing and his pen name was Dongcun. He studied painting under Chen Xian, but his lineage can be traced back to the Academy painters of the late Southern Song Dynasty, and so his school of painting is also known as the Academy school. He excelled in landscape and figure paintings, and demonstrated a sophisticated depiction style. His major works include "Guests at a Mountain Village" (Shanghai Museum) and "View of Xishan Tower" (Boston Museum of Fine Arts). 中国,明中期の画家。呉県 (江蘇省蘇州) の人。字は舜卿,号は東邨。絵は陳暹 (ちんせん) に学んだが,その画系をたどると南宋末の画院画家にまで及ぶことから,周臣一派を院派とも称している。山水・人物画を得意とし,巧緻な描写形式を示した。主作品に『山齋客至図』 (上海博物館) ,『渓山楼観図』 (ボストン美術館) などがある。
