Iwateyama Castle

...It is located at the end of the Tamatsukuri Hills, with the Eai (Arao) River flowing through the center. The central settlement, Iwadeyama, is located at the mouth of the valley where the Eai River flows into the Osaki Plain, and is a key transportation location where the Kita-Uzen Kaido and Ugo Kaido roads intersect. In the Middle Ages, it was called Iwateyama, and Iwateyama Castle, the residence of the Osaki clan's vassal, Ujiie clan, was located here. In 1591 (Tensho 19), Date Masamune moved here, and it remained his residence until he moved to Sendai in 1603 (Keicho 8).
