A type of frame drum or tambourine that has spread widely from east to west, mainly in Western Asia. Da'ira means "round" in Arabic. It is usually made of a wooden frame made of walnut, poplar, pine, etc., 35 to 40 cm in diameter and about 5 to 7 cm deep, stretched with a single piece of goat leather. Around 50 metal rings like finger rings are hung on the inside of the frame, designed to jingle with the vibration of the leather. The player supports the bottom of the frame with his left hand and holds the drum in front of him like a shield, striking the membrane with the fingertips of both hands to produce a variety of tones and rhythms.
