High Sword Father - Kou Kenfu

Japanese: 高剣父 - こうけんふ

1879-1951 Chinese painter.
Born in the 5th year of the Guangxu era. After studying under Ju Lian in Guangdong, he went to Japan to study Western painting under the White Horse Society and the Pacific Painting Society. After returning to China, he joined the Xinhai Revolutionary Movement. He was a leading figure in the Lingnan School of Painting, which advocated new literati painting. His younger brothers Qifeng and Kenseng were also painters. He passed away at the age of 73. He was from Guangdong Province and graduated from Lingnan University. His given name was Lun and his pen name was Queting.

光緒5年生まれ。広東の居廉にまなんだのち日本に留学し,白馬会や太平洋画会で洋画をまなんだ。帰国後,辛亥(しんがい)革命運動にくわわる。新文人画をとなえた嶺南画派の第一人者。弟の奇峰と剣僧も画家。享年73歳。広東省出身。嶺南大卒。名は崙。字(あざな)は鵲庭。
