[Born] 1211. Hamadan [Died] November 1289. A Damascan Persian mystic poet. In his youth, he was attracted to a group of traveling mystics and left his hometown. He served Zakariya, the founder of the Suhrawardi order in Multan, India, for 25 years, but later traveled to Turkey and Egypt, and died in Syria. The majority of his Diwan-e Irāqī (Collection of Irāqi Poems) consists of mystical lyric poetry, and he is well-known in this field. His epic poem `Ushshāq-nāme (Book of Lovers) is also famous.
