[Born] 1211. Hamadan
[Died] November 1289. A Damascan Persian mystic poet. In his youth, he was attracted to a group of traveling mystics and left his hometown. He served Zakariya, the founder of the Suhrawardi order in Multan, India, for 25 years, but later traveled to Turkey and Egypt, and died in Syria. The majority of his Diwan-e Irāqī (Collection of Irāqi Poems) consists of mystical lyric poetry, and he is well-known in this field. His epic poem `Ushshāq-nāme (Book of Lovers) is also famous. His prose work Lama`āt (Light of the Flash) is a book on mystical thought.

ペルシアの神秘主義詩人。青年時代に神秘主義遊行僧の一行にひかれて郷里を捨て，インドのムルタンにおけるスフラワルディー教団の開祖ザカリヤーに 25年仕えたが，のちにトルコ，エジプトを回り，シリアで没した。『イラーキー詩集』 Dīwān-e Irāqīの大半は神秘主義抒情詩から成り，この分野で定評が高い。叙事詩『恋人たちの書』`Ushshāq-nāmeも名高い。散文作品『閃光』 Lama`ātは神秘主義思想に関する書である。
