Quarter calendar - Shibunreki

Japanese:
Quarter calendar - Shibunreki
A calendar used in ancient China. It was also called the quadrant system because the length of a year was 365 days + 1/4 days. Seven leap months were inserted every 19 years (19 x 12 + 7 = 235 lunar months), and the 19 years of this basic cycle were considered one chapter, with leap months and the length of the moon changing every four chapters (76 years). The cycle of one chapter was also known in Greece as the Metonic cycle. Astronomically, the lunar nodes and periapses take 18.599 years and 8.851 years, respectively, so the cycle returns to roughly the original state every 19 years.
