Creation myth

Japanese: 創世神話 - そうせいしんわ

This refers to myths about the origin of the world, humanity, culture, etc. In other words, they tell of the creation and order of things in the beginning, and are contrasted with "myths of the gods" or heroic myths, which focus on the eventful life of a particular deity. World origin myths can be broadly divided into creation and evolutionary types, with the former describing a creator god who created the world in some way, either alone or with the help of one or more co-creators.

世界，人類，文化などの起源についての神話をさす。つまり原初において事物が創始され，秩序が設定されたことを語り，むしろ特定の神格の波乱万丈の生涯を語ることに主眼のある〈神々の神話〉ないし英雄神話と対照をなしている。世界起源神話は大きく分けて創造型と進化型とがあり，前者は創造神がなんらかの方法で世界を創造したという形式であって，これには創造神が単独で創造する形式，高神が1人あるいはそれ以上の協力者の助力を得て創造する形式とがある。
