Yumi Ito - Ito Sukezane

Japanese: 伊東祐実 - いとうすけざね

1644-1723 A daimyo from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born January 28, 1628. The fourth son of Ito Sukehisa. Succeeding his older brother Sukemichi, in 1668 he became the fifth generation lord of the Ito clan in Obi Domain in Hyuga (Miyazaki Prefecture). In 1671 he won a border dispute with the Shimazu clan that had lasted for half a century. In 1686 he opened the Horikawa Canal leading to Aburatsu Port to transport Obi cedar, a special product of the domain, and in 1693 he carried out major renovations of Obi Castle. He died on September 18, 1616 at the age of 80.

寛永21年1月28日生まれ。伊東祐久の4男。兄祐由(すけみち)の跡をつぎ,寛文元年日向(ひゅうが)(宮崎県)飫肥(おび)藩主伊東家5代となる。延宝3年半世紀におよぶ島津氏との境界争いに勝訴。貞享(じょうきょう)3年藩特産の飫肥杉搬送のため油津(あぶらつ)港に通じる堀川運河をひらき,元禄(げんろく)6年飫肥城の大改築をおこなった。享保(きょうほう)8年9月18日死去。80歳。
