Prohibiting the free export of gold meant suspending the gold standard. Many countries took this measure during World War I (Japan did so in September 1917), and lifted the gold ban after the war, but since 1931 many countries have banned it again. Japan lifted the gold ban in 1930, but due to the effects of the Great Depression, gold outflows continued due to foreign exchange speculation and capital flight, so in December 1931, gold exports were banned again. → Related article Takahashi Finance | Dollar Buying Incident Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
