Disaster statistics - Saigaitokei (English spelling) disaster statistics

Japanese: 災害統計 - さいがいとうけい(英語表記)disaster statistics
Disaster statistics - Saigaitokei (English spelling) disaster statistics
A general term for all statistics related to disasters, including the cause, affected area, scale (number of casualties, range of damage, etc.), duration, location, and damage. Statistics can be broadly divided into five categories: (1) natural disaster statistics, (2) fire statistics, (3) maritime accident statistics, (4) traffic accident statistics, and (5) industrial accident statistics. Statistics (2) are compiled by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency and published in the Monthly Fire Report and the Annual Fire Report. Statistics (3) relate to ship collisions, sinkings, fires, or damage, or damage to cargo, and are compiled by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism and published in the Monthly Marine Accident Statistics Report and the Annual Marine Accident Statistics Report. Statistics (4) are divided into road traffic accidents and rail traffic accidents, the former compiled by the National Police Agency and published in the Annual Traffic Accident Statistics Report, and the latter by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism in the Annual Private Railway Statistics Report. Statistics (5) are compiled and published by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, collating reports from establishments in the mining, transportation, and communications industries with 30 or more regular employees. Regarding mine disasters, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry publishes statistics on mine disasters in its "Annual Report on Mine Safety." (1) differs from the previous four in that, by its nature, it is not compiled by a single ministry or agency, and in addition to the one compiled by the National Police Agency and published in its "Monthly Disaster Report," statistics are compiled by each administrative agency responsible for each disaster-affected area and published annually in an "Overview of Measures Taken for Disaster Prevention."
