In the early 14th and 15th centuries, the pioneers of Turkish literature in Anatolia were the mystic poets Yunus Emre, Sultan Bered (?-1312), and Āshık Paşa (?-1332), who wrote in a simple Anatolian dialect and in traditional Turkish rhymes. With the rise of the Ottoman Empire, the activities of court poets began, and Ahmedi's (1334-1413) İskendername, a long epic poem that includes the history of the Ottoman dynasty, spread as far as Central Asia.
