A physician born and died in Seville. In Western Europe he was known by his Latin name Avenzoar (or Abhomeron). He became the personal physician of the Moroccan dynasty of Almoravids, who also had influence in Spain, and continued to serve them after they were replaced by the Almohads. He wrote works such as The Book of the Correct Environment for Harmonizing Mind and Body and The Book of Treatment and Diet, the latter of which was translated into Latin under the name Altersir (Theisir). It includes a description of a mediastinal abscess, which the author himself appears to have had.

セビリャに生まれ死んだ医者。西ヨーロッパではアベンゾアルAvenzoar(またはAbhomeron)とのラテン名で知られた。スペインにも勢力を持つモロッコの王朝ムラービト家の侍医となり，ムワッヒド家に替わった後も仕えた。《精神と肉体を調和させる正しい環境の書》《治療と食餌の書》などを著し，後者は《Altersir(Theisir)》という名でラテン語に訳された。縦隔洞膿瘍mediastinal abscessの記述を含むが，著者自身この症状を持っていたらしい。
