Belonite (English spelling)

Japanese: ベロニーテ（英語表記）belonite

This is one of the morphological classifications of volcanoes published by K. Schneider in 1911, but is rarely used today. It is almost synonymous with volcanic pinnacles. A volcanic pinnacle is a volcanic body that is formed when viscous magma is gradually pushed up from the vent to the surface and protrudes above the crater in a nearly solidified state. The pinnacle of about 300m high that formed at the summit of Mount Pele in 2002 is famous, and Showa-Shinzan also belongs to this type.

1911年に発表された K.シュナイダーによる火山の形態分類の一つであるが，現在はほとんど使用されない。火山岩尖とほぼ同義。火山岩尖は粘性の大きいマグマが火道から地表に徐々に押上げられ，ほぼ固結した状態で火口上に突出する火山体をいう。 02年のペレー火山の頂上にできた高さ 300mぐらいの岩尖が有名で，昭和新山もこの型に属する。
