Iskenderun Steelworks - Iskenderun Steelworks

In 1977, a pipeline was built from the Kirkuk oil fields in Iraq to Dortoyol inland, and was further extended to Iskenderun, which serves as a port for shipping crude oil to Europe. In 1976, the Iskenderun Steelworks was built as Turkey's third steelworks with technical and financial assistance from the Soviet Union. In recent years, the city has been developing rapidly as an industrial and military city.
