The Duero is a river that originates in the central mountain range in northern Spain, flows westward through the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula, and flows along the border between Spain and Portugal before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean near Oporto. Only part of the middle part is navigable. In Spain, it is called the Duero River.
