Substations contain a variety of electrical equipment and use a variety of insulators, which can be broadly divided into station post (SP) insulators and insulator tubes. As shown in Figure 8, SP insulators are rod-shaped solid insulators used for insulating support of electrical equipment such as conductors and capacitors, and for disconnectors.
