Grand Duke of Lithuania. Reigned 1381-82. He was the son of Grand Duke Gediminas, and after his father's death, he divided the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in two with his brother Algirdas and ruled the western part of the country. He repelled 100 invasions by the Teutonic Knights from the west and the Livonian Knights from the north, and himself invaded the Knights' territory 40 times, preparing the way for the heyday of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under his son Vytautas. The castle of Trakai, which he built and stands on a lake, is famous as one of the most scenic spots in Lithuania.

リトアニア大公。在位1381‐82年。トラカイ･ジェマイチア公をへて，大公位についた。大公ゲディミナスの子で，父の没後兄のアルギルダスとリトアニア大公国を二分割し，国の西方を統治した。彼は西からのドイツ騎士団，北からのリボニア騎士団の100回に及ぶ侵攻を防ぎ，みずからも40回にわたって騎士団領内に進撃し，その子ビタウタスによるリトアニア大公国の最盛期を準備した。彼の築いた湖上に浮かぶトラカイの城はリトアニアきっての景勝地として名高い。
