Hythergraph (English spelling)

Japanese: ハイサグラフ（英語表記）hythergraph

A line diagram with monthly precipitation on the horizontal axis and monthly average temperature on the vertical axis, connecting 12 points plotted for each month in monthly order. Also called a rain-temperature chart. It is easy to draw and the seasonal changes in the combination of temperature and precipitation can be seen at a glance, so it is a useful way of expressing climate. G. Taylor invented the climograph, which combines wet-bulb temperature and relative humidity, or temperature and relative humidity, but the hysagraph is an improvement of the climograph for ease of obtaining data. However, this hysagraph is sometimes called a climograph.

横軸に月降水量を，縦軸に月平均気温をとって，月ごとにプロットした12点を月順に結びつけた線図。雨温図ともいう。作図が簡単で，しかも気温と降水量の組合せの季節推移が一見してわかるので，気候の便利な表現法として重宝されている。G.テーラーは湿球温度と相対湿度，あるいは気温と相対湿度を組み合わせたクライモグラフを考案したが，資料入手の便宜上からクライモグラフを改良したものがハイサグラフである。しかし，このハイサグラフをクライモグラフと呼ぶことがある。
