Japanese: オキシコドン - おきしこどん

A type of opium alkaloid narcotic, it is a chemical substance that exerts a strong analgesic effect and a feeling of euphoria. It is sold as an analgesic under the brand names OxyContin Tablets and Oxynorm Powder. Because of its strong addictiveness and side effects, it is strictly controlled in Japan and many other countries, and is used only by doctors for moderate to severe pain, mainly in cancer. In the United States, oxycodone can be purchased and used by individuals at pharmacies with a doctor's prescription, so oxycodone consumption in the United States is said to be about 70% of the total, and abuse has become a social problem.

アヘンアルカロイド系麻薬の一種で、強い鎮痛作用や多幸感などを及ぼす化学物質。オキシコンチン錠、オキノーム散などの商品名で鎮痛薬として流通している。依存性・副作用が強いため、日本他多くの国では厳重に管理され、医師のみが主にがんにおける中度～高度の疼痛に使用する。米国では、医師の処方箋があれば個人が薬局で購入・使用できるため、米国のオキシコドン消費量は全体の約7割に至るとされ、濫用などの社会問題となっている。
