A nobleman in the late Heian period. Son of Councillor Fujiwara Ieyasu and Lady Etsuko, daughter of Omi no Kami Fujiwara Takamune. A powerful confidant of Emperor Toba. Head of the Fujiwara clan of the Zenshoji lineage. Ennobled in 1122, he served as a provincial governor in Wakasa, Kaga, Sanuki, and Harima. In 1136, he was ranked as a nobleman, and promoted to Councillor in 1136 and Gon Chunagon in 1146, during which time he held the posts of Gon Daifu (Gon Daifu) of the Empress's Palace, Uhyoe no Kami, and Uemon no Kami. As his mother was Emperor Toba's wet nurse and Empress Toba's Bifukumon'in Tokushi was his cousin, he was favored by Toba, and his influence, supported by his power, was so great that Minamoto no Michitoki said, "The affairs of the world are entirely in Ienari's hands." Fujiwara no Yorinaga, a contemporary of his, had a strong sense of rivalry with Ienari, and even ordered his confidants to pursue and attack Ienari's residence. In 1154, he became a monk due to illness, and died shortly thereafter.

平安後期の公卿。参議藤原家保と近江守藤原隆宗の娘典侍悦子の子。鳥羽院の有力近臣。善勝寺流藤原氏長者。保安3(1122)年叙爵,以後若狭,加賀,讃岐,播磨と受領を歴任。保延2(1136)年公卿に列し,3年参議,4年権中納言と昇進を重ね,その間皇后宮権大夫,右兵衛督,右衛門督を兼任。鳥羽天皇の乳母を母とし,鳥羽皇后美福門院得子を従姉妹に持つ関係から,鳥羽の寵愛を受け,その権力を支えとする威勢は,源師時をして,「天下の事,一向に家成に帰す」といわしめるほどであった。同時代人の藤原頼長は,家成に対し激しい対抗意識を持ち,その邸宅への追捕狼藉を,腹心の随身に命ずる事件を起こしている。久寿1(1154)年病により出家,ほどなく卒した。<参考文献>河野房男『平安末期政治史研究』
