Inoue Shunsuke

Japanese: 井上春碩 - いのうえしゅんせき

1707-1772 A Go player from the mid-Edo period.
Born in 1767. A disciple of Inoue Sakuun (5th Inoue Inseki). In 1719, he took the name Inseki 6th. In 1720, he opposed Honinbo Shuhaku's promotion to Jouzu (7th dan) and played a competitive Go match. In 1768, he became a jun-meijin (8th dan) along with Honinbo Sasgen. In 1770, he opposed Sasgen's request to become a Meijin and played a competitive Go match, but was defeated. He died in December 1770, at the age of 66. He was from Shimousa. His real surname was Ito.

宝永4年生まれ。井上策雲(5世井上因碩)の門弟。享保(きょうほう)19年6世因碩を名のる。元文4年本因坊秀伯の上手(じょうず)(7段)昇格に反対し,争碁をうつ。明和元年本因坊察元とともに準名人(8段)となる。3年察元の名人碁所願いに反対し争碁をうつが敗退した。安永元年12月死去。66歳。下総(しもうさ)出身。本姓は伊藤。
