The bark of the trunk is reddish-brown and splits vertically, peeling off in thin strips, the rest of which is strongly reddish. The branches are densely divided, forming an elliptical-conical crown. The twigs are flattened, with scaly leaves arranged in cross-pairs, with the dorsal and ventral leaves rhomboid and the lateral leaves folded in two, and the tips blunt.
