...After the war, in addition to the University of London, Cambridge and Oxford universities resumed Japanese language education, and in 1963 the Centre for Japanese Studies was established at the University of Sheffield. In 1966, these universities and the British Museum collaborated to form the Japan Libraries Group, and in 1974 the British Society for Japanese Studies was founded. The organization of such research environments cannot be considered apart from the worsening economic friction between Japan and Europe that began in the 1970s. ...
