Construction paper - Mozoushi

Japanese:
Construction paper - Mozoushi

A high-quality paper for printing, writing, office work, and packaging, made by machine using chemical pulp to resemble kyokushi. Kyokushi was originally a pale yellow handmade paper made by the Japanese Printing Bureau using mitsumata as the main ingredient, rosin size instead of kneading and filler (an auxiliary agent used to increase the opacity of paper), and tamemizuki (a method of papermaking) to imitate torinoko, and was extremely expensive. In the early Meiji period, in Europe, sulfite pulp was beaten into a sticky form to imitate kyokushi, but instead of kneading and filler, it was rosin sized and produced in large quantities and cheaply by machine papermaking, hence the name. Currently in Japan, it is divided into A, B, and C imitations. A imitations are super calendared, B imitations are machine calendared, and C imitations are made from unbleached sulfite pulp. Since neither paper uses fillers during papermaking, it contains less ash than regular printing paper.
