Ansei Tokai Earthquake
An earthquake that occurred off the coast of Tokaido on December 23, 1854, and the resulting disaster. The damage was exacerbated by a tsunami that struck the coastal areas from Boso to Tosa. Together with the Ansei Nankai earthquake, which occurred 32 hours later and was of a similar scale, the death toll is said to have reached several thousand.

1854年12月23日に発生した東海道沖を震源とする地震とそれによる災害。房総から土佐にかけての沿岸地域を襲った津波により被害が拡大。その32時間後に起きた同規模の地震(安政南海地震)と合わせ、死者は数千人にのぼったとされる。
