Tāsā (English spelling)

[Primitive agricultural culture]
In the Alluvial Epoch, the Sahara became a desert, and the natural conditions of the Nile Basin became almost the same as they are today. Agriculture, which originated in West Asia, was introduced, and the oldest agricultural remains in Egypt can be found at Merimde Banī Salāma (Merimde ruins) on the western edge of the Delta, Faiyum (Faiyum A culture), and Tasa (Tāsā) in Middle Egypt. There are many unresolved issues regarding the age and nature of these remains, but they are currently believed to be a Neolithic culture that began around 5000 BC and continued throughout the 5th millennium BC.
