Volcanic front

Japanese: 火山前線 - かざんぜんせん（英語表記）volcanic front

In island arcs such as the Japanese archipelago and land arcs, this is the trench-side boundary of a group of volcanoes that are aligned almost parallel to the trench. There are no volcanoes on the trench side of the volcanic front, and the number of volcanoes decreases toward the landward side, and the chemical composition of the eruptions also changes systematically. Therefore, it is thought that hot mantle material rises below the volcanic front. A volcanic belt is a concept that corresponds to the volcanic front itself and the volcanic chain that is distributed parallel to it.

日本列島などの島弧や陸弧で、海溝とほぼ並行して配列する火山群の海溝側の境界線。火山前線より海溝側には火山は存在せず、陸側に向かうと火山の数は減少し、噴出物の化学組成も系統的に変化する。そこで、火山前線の下では、熱いマントル物質が上昇してくると考えられる。火山帯は、火山前線そのものや並行に分布する火山列と対応する概念。
