Colonial Period of American History

…He studied colonial American history and belonged to the Imperial School of the first half of the 20th century. In addition to his studies of New England local history, including his debut work The River Towns of Connecticut (1889), he also wrote two volumes of The Historical Development of Modern Europe (1896-98), and in his representative work The Colonial Period of American History (1934-38), he placed the history of the 13 North American colonies within the context of the British Empire as a whole. He was a professor of American history at Yale University from 1910 to 1931. …
