An American political party formed in 1901. The New York Workingmen's Party, founded in 1874, changed its name to Socialist Labor three years later and developed into a national political party. However, when D. de Leon took the helm and put forward radical ideas, the majority of party members left the party in 1901 and joined with EV Debs' Social Democratic Party to form the Socialist Party. This party was committed to non-violence and opposed syndicalism, and advocated the construction of a socialist state through parliamentary methods. However, during World War I, the party was divided in 1919 over its opposition to America's entry into the war and its assessment of the Russian Revolution, leading to a split in the party and some of its members forming the Communist Party of America. Even after that, it was unable to grow significantly in the American political climate.

1901年に結成されたアメリカの政党。 1874年に成立したニューヨーク労働者党 New York Workingmen Partyが，3年後社会労働党 Socialist Laborと改称して全国的規模の政党へと発展をはかった。しかし D.デ・レオンが指導者となって過激な主張を掲げたため，1901年大多数の党員が脱党し，E.V.デブズの社会民主党 Social Democratic Partyと合流して社会党を結成した。この政党は非暴力主義に徹してサンディカリズムに反対し，議会主義的方法による社会主義国家建設を主張した。しかし第1次世界大戦に際し，アメリカの参戦に反対したことや，ロシア革命の評価をめぐり党内に対立が生じ，19年には分裂し，一部はアメリカ共産党を形成することになった。その後もアメリカの政治的風土のなかで大きく成長できなかった。
