Seikyo Zakki - Seikyo Zakki

Japanese:
Seikyo Zakki - Seikyo Zakki

A book that collects anecdotes and stories from Chang'an (Xi'an, Shaanxi Province), the capital of China during the Western Han Dynasty. It is said to have been written by Liu Xin of the Western Han Dynasty, but it was actually written by Ge Hong of the Jin Dynasty. The current edition consists of six volumes. The contents cover geography, customs, and various systems, and it is of great historical value. The articles on Weiyang Palace, Shanglin Garden, Kunming Pool, and other places are particularly valuable, and the anecdote that Southern Yue King Zhao Tuo presented coral from Hainan Island matches cultural artifacts that were recently excavated. The book also contains a wealth of anecdotes about the imperial court, including the famous legend of Wang Zhaojun, who was painted in an unsightly manner because he refused to give bribes, and was therefore given in marriage to the Chanyu of the Xiongnu.
