Halftone printing - Amitoppan

…Relief printing, as can be easily understood by looking at examples of printing plates, is a method of printing in which the image surface is higher than the non-image surface, and ink is applied only to the image surface by utilizing the difference in height between the two. There are many types of relief printing. The most typical is the letterpress used in letterpress printing, but other types include line relief printing, which makes only the line drawing part raised to print line drawings, photographic plates (halftone relief printing), which replace light and dark shades with large and small raised dots (called halftone dots) to print photographs and other objects with gradations of light and dark, highlight plates, a type of photographic plate in which the halftone dots in the white parts of the original are removed to emphasize the white parts of the original, and primary color plates, a type of photographic plate, used in color printing.
