Kume [town] - Kume
An old town in Kume County, west of Tsuyama City, in central Okayama Prefecture. A key transportation location with the Kishin Line passing through the lowlands of the Kume River, with Sendai at its center. It has long been the center of the Mimasaka region, connecting Sanyo and Sanin, and there are remains of the jori system. It is an agricultural region, focusing on the cultivation of rice, vegetables, and livestock. In February 2005, it was incorporated into Tsuyama City along with Katsukita Town in Katsuta County, Kamo Town in Tomata County, and Awa Village. 74.39 km2 . Population 7,881 (2003).
