A small perennial plant of the Ranunculaceae family (APG classification: Ranunculaceae). The rhizome is densely covered with wide scales. The stem is 10-25 cm tall. It has no basal leaves. The stem leaves are compound and trifoliate. The flowers bloom in May and June, 1-3 at the end of the stem, about 1 cm across, yellow-green, and do not fully open. It grows in moist areas along streams in the mountains on the Sea of ​​Japan side of Honshu.
