The architecture of the Mamluk dynasty (1250-1517) in the Arab world is characterized by a simple, yet large-scale and stable style, a complex structure of mosques, tombs, madrasahs, etc., and extensive use of plaster, mosaics, and especially colored marble decorations (ablaq), and muqarnas. Representative remains include the tomb and madrasah of Sultan Qalawun (1285), and the mosque and madrasah of Sultan Hasan (1359). ...
