The wedding ceremony is held at the groom's house (bride-entry marriage), but the couple's bedroom is at the bride's house (bride-entry marriage), a hybrid form in the process of changing from a bride-entry marriage to a bride-entry marriage. There is also a form in which the bride moves to the groom's house only after she becomes a housewife, and a form in which the bride stays at the groom's house for an intimate ceremony and then has a formal wedding ceremony later. Regions where the ashiire style was predominant were not necessarily rare before the war, but as ashiire marriage became predominant, brides who had ashiire marriages came to be associated with a tragic image.

婚礼は婿方で催す（嫁入婚）が，夫婦の寝所は嫁方にもつ（婿入婚）もので，婿入婚が嫁入婚に転換する過程の折衷形式。嫁が主婦になると初めて婿方へ移る形，内輪の式で婿の家に泊りに行き，のち改めて正式の披露をする形式もある。足入れが支配的な地方は戦前は必ずしもまれでなかったが，嫁入婚が支配的になるに及んで，そのなかでの足入れの嫁は悲惨な印象を伴うようになった。
