Islamic religious law. It is translated as "Islamic law" or "sacred law." Based on the Quran, its sources of law are Sunnah (the words and deeds of the Prophet), Ijma (the general acceptance of religious scholars of the time), and Qiyas (analogy). The content it deals with is broadly divided into ritual norms such as purification, prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage, and legal norms such as marriage, inheritance, crime, and trials. Although it is a type of customary law, many parts are left to the personal judgment of the ulama (the intellectual class in the Islamic world) and judges, and the Sunni sect is divided into four major schools of law regarding its interpretation: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali. → Related topics Islamic extremism | Islamic culture | Ibn Taymiyyah | Jizya | Jihad | Sunni | Haram | Rule of the jurists Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
